Built in Swindon, 1950
Bring Ditcheat Manor back to steam.
Locomotive 7821 stands silent today in the old Great Western works where she was built. Her boiler and chassis need a full overhaul before she can pull trains again on the West Somerset Railway. With your help, she will.

Why restore one locomotive?
Because a working steam engine is history you can stand beside, hear and ride behind. Ditcheat Manor is one of only thirty Manors ever built, and she was built to work.
A Swindon original
One of the last ten Manors, completed at Swindon and in service from 27 November 1950. Her home today is the same historic works, now a designer outlet.
Built for lines like ours
Manors were designed for secondary lines with light track and stiff gradients. That suits the West Somerset Railway, the longest standard gauge heritage railway in England.
Owned by her supporters
She belongs to the West Somerset Railway Association, a charity run by volunteers. Money given for 7821 is spent only on 7821.
